ReiserFS v3 is the filesystem format used for the reiserfs
versions in the 2.4.x kernel; v2 is used in 2.2.x.  You can
convert from v2 to v3 using a mount option ("mount /dev/hda1 /mnt
-o conv", I think), but you can't convert from v3 to v2.  ReiserFS
in 2.4.x can read _either_ v2 or v3, so if you are thinking of
going back to 2.2.x, use the v2 format.

I think the major difference is that the v3 format supports 64-bit
file sizes (2GB+); v2 does not.  There may be other differences;
if there are, I can't remember.  You may want to check the FAQ
page on the ReiserFS site (www.namesys.com), which is full of
useful information.
